The Smile
We have lived next door to Angelo and Elena for about 40 years. We have been so fortunate to have them as neighbours and friends. In the summer Angelo and Elena would always be sitting on their veranda with their family and friends. I would peek around the corner and there would be Angelo with his beautiful smile. He would insist I come and sit with everybody. He loved company and made everyone welcome. Elena would prepare a pot of espresso and the fun began. For the last several years I've made a birthday cake for Angelo as his birthday was August 16 and mine August 17. Angelo was a very hard working man and his vegetable garden proved it. They would always be bringing vegetables over which we appreciated.
I can't express the sadness I felt today at the visitation. I realized I won't see that beautiful smiling Angelo anymore. Elena I know this is a very sad time for you but you are so fortunate to have so many friends and family living nearby and always remember we are right next door.. Angelo we will miss you. You were a wonderful neighbour. Nobody could replace you. You were so special. Rest in peace Angelo.
