My Deepest condolences to the Barei family in the sudden passing of Carlo. We have great memories of him growing up on the same street and sharing many great times together with both our families. Carlo and Elsa were good friends with my parents Guido and Jean. Carlo and I coached a Rexdale Soccer club team together for a few years and he taught me a lot about coaching which helped me in my later years. He will be missed! Joe Francavilla

Carlo was one of those rare, special people that made everyone around feel totally accepted. He was a gentle spirit with a quick smile and a warm and welcoming demeanor. A wonderful husband, father, Nonno, Uncle, and friend; Carlo's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live forever in the hearts of all who were touched my knowing him.

Story shared: The Best Choir Member Ever

I worked with Carlo at St. Andrew's Italian Choir - twice. My first time as Choir Director was in the mid-1990's. Carlo served as our Choir President and did everything possible to make sure the group was organized as to both Mass services and social occasions as well. Anything that was needed, Carlo hunted it down. During that 5 or 6-year period, I don't think he missed a single practice or Mass.

The second time was around 2007. I came home from work and my husband said; "Carlo called". Yes, he was asking me if I wanted to come back to serve at St. Andrew's. So, for the last almost 10 years, I had Carlo at my side. He learned his parts meticulously and was very proud of the choir's progress. he always wanted to do things the right way. He always arrived early on Sunday to set up the mikes just so and carried a spare "in case the church microphone suddenly disappeared".

Again, I don't think Carlo ever missed Mass and was at virtually every practice.

Easter Sunday April 16, 2017 was our last time together. I will miss him forever.

Carlo you were a very special man to us. You came into our lives when Elsa began babysitting Connor over 20 years ago. Over the years we got to know George and David, so we got to watch each other's families grow up. We revelled in your joy of soccer as you coached the kids. I will never forgot you and George knocking on all those doors when Randy ran for office. Your wonderful garden of bounty fed us every summer. Your homemade sausages were legendary. All those wonderful dinners we shared together with you and Zia were among our family's most treasured memories. We will miss you Carlo. More than anything we will miss that playful twinkle in your eye and your kindness. You made an indelible mark on our lives, and for that we are lucky, and we are grateful.
