Obituary for Luisa Ayllon (Leindl)

Luisa Ayllon (Leindl)
AYLLON, Luisa (nee Leindl) -
Passed away peacefully at Christie Gardens in Toronto on Sunday, March 18, 2018. Luisa is joining her dearly beloved husband Rafael (predeceased by only a few weeks). She is the beloved mother of Richard, Christina, Paul (predeceased) and Kurt, the dear mother-in-law to Claudia and Elfriede, and grandmother to Madison, Eva, Thomas and Paul and great grandmother to Lotte and Elie. Treasured family and friends in Canada and Austria include Mary Anne, Catherine, Sylvie and the Osadchuk family. The family expresses heartfelt appreciation for the extraordinarily kind and compassionate support from the wonderful team at Christie Gardens. Luisa started her professional career as a trained nurse working for the Vienna General Hospital. In 1954, she immigrated to Canada aboard the Beaver Brae as a pediatric nurse. She later trained in the Department of Bacteriology at the University of Manitoba and later worked at the Winnipeg General Hospital, where she would meet her husband Rafael. Together they would form their family in Toronto and Hamilton and ultimately settle in Montreal to raise them. Luisa was also an active community leader and provided long-term service in senior levels of the Canadian Red Cross, Boy Scouts of Canada and the Montreal Dog Obedience Training Club. She was awarded The Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal and the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation for her significant contribution to Canada and to the community. She was well known as energetic, committed and a tireless caregiver to her family and others. In accordance with her wishes, floral tributes are graciously declined. Resting at the NEWEDIUK FUNERAL HOME, KIPLING CHAPEL, 2058 Kipling Avenue (North of Rexdale Boulevard), from 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 with a Funeral Service in the chapel at 1 p.m. Charitable donations may be made to the Christie Gardens Foundation (ChristieGardens.org).
