Obituary for Hilda Hendrika Van Soelen (Koenderink)

VAN SOELEN, Hilda Hendrika (nee Koenderink) -
(February 22, 1924 – March 17, 2018)
It is with sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of Hilda Van Soelen at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, in her 95th year on Saturday, March 17, 2018.
Hilda Hendrika Van Soelen (nee Koender ink) was wife of the late Herman Marius Van Soelen (2009) and predeceased by her first husband Adrianus Hellemond (1981) Predeceased by her parents Albert and Alida (Van Lindt), Netherland. Predeceased brother Albert Koenderink and surviving wife Riet (Saskatchewan), predeceased sister Jeanetta (Koenderink) Falter (Geradus (Gerry) (Saskatchewan), predeceased brother Corneilis (Cees) Koenderink (Gijsje (Grace) (Ontario) and surviving brother Jerry Koenderink (Myrla) (Alberta). She is survived by dear son John Hellemond (Lois) of British Columbia, daughter Alida Callaghan (George) of Prince Edward Island, and son Albert Hellemond (Shirley) of Oshawa. Also survived by stepchildren Anna VandenBrink (Hank) of Sparta, Wilma Ykema (Gary) of Eastwood, Betty Devries (Dick) of Hamilton, Joan Desira (Tar) of Peterborough and Albert Van Soelen (Wendy) of Woodstock. Hilda (Adrianus) has 6 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Hilda (Herman) has 14 Step Grandchildren and 31 Step Great Grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She will by sadly missed by her cat Misty.
Oma was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, immigrated to Canada in October 1953 on the Zuiderkruis, landing at Pier 21, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Travelled by train to Humbolt, Saskatchewan. Moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and moved to Whitby to Oshawa, Ontario. She was a seamstress and a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Woodstock and the Hebron Christian Reformed Church, Whitby.
Friends may call at the W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby, Ontario (905 668.3410 or info@wctown.com) on Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Hebron Christian Reformed Church, Monday, March 26, 2018 at 10.00 am, 4240 Anderson Street, Whitby, Ontario L1R 2W1, with Pastor Darren Hoogendoorn, officiating.
A private family interment at the Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens in Whitby to follow. Contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the Staff at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa for their excellent care and support and a thank you to Pastor Gordon Horton (Community Baptist Church) and Pastor Darren Hoogendoorn (Hebron Christian Reformed Church).
