BRUNELLE, Marcel Lawrence -
It is with deepest sorrow, we mourn the loss of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Marcel Lawrence Brunelle at the age of 75. On Saturday, January 6th, 2018, Marcel passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord. He was the eldest son to the late Dominique and Cecile Brunelle. Survived by his loving wife Shirley, cherished father to Steven, Christopher (Sherry), Reese (Adele), Shawn and Jason (Carolynn). Extended to Devon and Angie Wagenaar. Predeceased by much loved siblings Anita (Ronald), John (survived by Tuula) and Phillip. Beloved Grandpa to Brittany, Jessica, Sophie-ann, Benjamin, Joshua, Bradley, Mark, Megan, Justin, Hope, Desiree, Skye, Trinity, Tristan, Pheonix, Cooper, Daniel, Makenna, Kaleb, Paige, Avery, Teagan, Mia and Aliyah. Loved Uncle and great Uncle to many nieces and nephews. The family will miss his great hugs, unconditional love and singing around the campfire. He was the best of us. Marcel enjoyed life through his many friends and community involvement. As a young man he was involved in theatre and a great lover of music. He was a member of many service groups and organizations through his life. Most notably, he devoted many years to Scouts Canada, in various leadership roles including District Commissioner. His role as leader and mentor to thousands of youth over the years guided his way to represent Whitby for 24 years as Councillor and Mayor. He loved this town and took great joy in the many accomplishments that Whitby has enjoyed through the years. For his years of service, Marcel received the Order of St. John, the Golden Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee Medals. Marcel also worked at General Motors for 36 years. Marcel will be remembered by many for his great laugh, his heartfelt words, friendship and dedication. The family will receive guests on Thursday, January 11th from 5 to 8 p.m. at W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby and Friday, January 12th from 11am until 1pm at St. George’s Memorial Anglican Church, 51 Centre Street South, Oshawa (Between Athol Street West and Bagot Street).
