Obituary for Olive Holmes

HOLMES, Olive (1927 – 2018) -
After a valiant, decade-long battle with Alzheimer’s dementia, Olive passed away on the morning of January 7th, at Gilmore Lodge Nursing Home in Fort Erie, Ontario. Devoted wife to her late husband, Thomas Holmes; loving mother to her son, Alan (Gail) Holmes, and daughter, Janet (Nevill) Bell; and adoring grandmother to her grandsons, Sean and Jonathan Bell, Olive will be missed more than words can express. Also grieving her loss is an extended family of nieces and nephews, though separated by thousands of miles. Born in Liverpool, England, Olive emigrated to Canada with her family in 1965, where she resided in Etobicoke for many years. Shortly after moving to Fort Erie, she was blessed to be placed under the wonderful care of the staff and volunteers at Gilmore Lodge. Prior to cremation, Olive is resting at the NEWEDIUK FUNERAL HOME, KIPLING CHAPEL, 2058 Kipling Avenue, Etobicoke, Ontario. On Friday, January 12th; Visitation is at 12 PM, and a Chapel Service is at 1 PM, with a Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers friends may wish to consider donations to the Alzheimer Society Niagara Region, or to the Gilmore Lodge Retirement Home - Family Council.
